The Archaic Greek Temple of Aphrodite in Thessalonike, Macedonia, Greece

The Archaic temple of Aphrodite is dated to the end of the 6th cBC and it was originally discovered during excavations in 1936, only to be lost years later in the destruction of Nazi occupation of the city and the subsequent post war development. It is at the beginning of Dioiketeriou street. It was situated at the Hiera/Ἴερά district, the sacred temples district of ancient Thessalonike. It was originally built in the city of Thermae, the predescessor of Thessaloniki, and it was moved into the present location during Roman times, a huge engineering undertaking for that time in its own merit.

Besides its archaeological and cultural significance, through its mere existence this temple flies at the face of the pseudo-macedonists of Skopje and their apologists, who try to falsify history reinventing it:

The fact that the Macedonians had their own gods, does prove that they had different religion from the Greeks who worshiped different gods...

One of the arguments the Skopian pseudo-macedonists is that Ancient Macedonia did not have any Greek temples, and that the ancient Mmacedonians did not believe in the same Gods as the ancient Greeks. Some Skopjean charlatans,...

Μετατρέπουν την Ελλάδα σε κράτος «περιορισμένης κυριαρχίας»

Επειδή   η Τουρκική προκλητικότητα στο Αιγαίο  έχει, προ πολλού,  υπερβεί τα εσκαμμένα.
Επειδή   με τον τρόπο αυτό η Τουρκία επιδιώκει να δημιουργήσει τετελεσμένα γεγονότα και επ’ αυτών, εν ευθέτω χρόνω,  να εγείρει αξιώσεις σε βάρος της χώρας μας.
Επειδή  η υποχωρητική,  ενδοτική  θα έλεγα, θέση  των ελληνικών κυβερνήσεων, όχι  μόνο δεν περιόρισε την τουρκική επιθετικότητα, αλλά τουναντίον την εξέθρεψε!
Επειδή,  παραιτούμεθα (αν δεν τα έχουμε οριστικά απεμπολίσει)  από κυριαρχικά μας δικαιώματά, που άπτονται του ζωτικού μας χώρου.
Επειδή  η  πατρίδα μας τείνει να μετατραπεί   σ’ ένα κράτος «περιορισμένης κυριαρχίας».
Επειδή  αυτή η πολιτική του κατευνασμού (appeasement αγγλιστί) απέναντι  σ΄ έναν επιθετικό γείτονα, ιστορικά, δεν θυμάμαι να έχει αποφέρει θετικά αποτελέσματα για τον εν αμύνη ευρισκόμενο.
Επειδή, αν και ηθελημένα το αγνοούν, για το Αιγαίο υπάρχουν διεθνείς κανόνες, που μπορούν να εφαρμοστούν ακόμα και για τα  νησιά μας, που βρίσκονται σε κοντινή απόσταση από την Τουρκία.

Επειδή μια χώρα που δεν μπορεί να υπερασπιστεί τα κυριαρχικά της δικαιώματα, ανοίγει ορέξεις και σ’ άλλους (γείτονες και μη)
Επειδή αυτή η «φιλανδοποίηση» του Αιγαίου, συμφέρει όλους εκτός από εμάς.
Επειδή,  μια χώρα που επιδεικνύει τέτοια  δειλία, ουδείς την παίρνει σοβαρά στις διεθνείς σχέσεις.
Επειδή, η Ελλάδα αυτή τη στιγμή βρίσκεται σε δυσχερή θέση και δεν νοείται να διαπραγματεύεται υπό τις παρούσες συνθήκες.
Επειδή, παρ’ όλη την  καλή διάθεση που επιδείξαμε όλα αυτά τα χρόνια,  η Τουρκία ούτε το casus beli απέσυρε, ούτε τις προκλήσεις στο Αιγαίο σταμάτησε, ούτε τη Θεολογική Σχολή της Χάλκης άνοιξε, ούτε τα κυπριακά πλοία επιτρέπει στα  λιμάνια της ,ούτε κάποια άλλη  κίνηση καλής θέλησης έκανε απέναντί μας.
Για όλους αυτούς τους λόγους, και για πολλούς περισσότερους,  θεωρούμε άκαιρη την επίσκεψη του Τούρκου Πρωθυπουργού και ανησυχούμε από την πρεμούρα του κ. Παπανδρέου να αρχίσει διαπραγματεύσεις μαζί του.
Για μας ο κ. Ερντογάν δεν είναι ευπρόσδεκτος

Ίσως να χρειαστεί να βουλιάξει μια μικρή οικονομία όπως της Ελλάδας για να καταρρεύσει επιτέλους αυτό το απολίθωμα και να ζήσουμε να δούμε τη λέξη "ύφεση" να θεωρείται ξεπερασμένη και τον όρο "οικονομικό κραχ" να είναι ο μόνος δόκιμος όρος σε καθημερινή χρήση.

Abstract

 The objective of this work is to provide some information and a scientifically true analysis on the 8,000 years of Hellenic (Greek) history and to examine what this information means to us and to the world as a whole. We will offer some thoughts and unshaken historic events that may help to answer questions concerning today’s conditions in south-eastern Europe, the borders of the old ‘Christendom’ [currently, European Union (EU)]. It is imperative that all scholars, politicians, decision makers, students, and intellectual human beings have this information regarding the artificial state, Skopje, created recently between Greece and Serbia; because we are responsible for all young people of this planet and they must know the plain truth in simple words, away from any expediency, propaganda, and anti-scientific delusion. This new state has unlawfully chosen the Greek name ‘Macedonia’ for its nation and Greece is objecting their aggressiveness, their robbery, and their expansiveness. It is historically wrong for them to use Greek names and symbols because they have nothing in common with Greeks and their old name is Vardarska.

I. Prologue

           

            Hellenic history and culture have contributed a great deal to the European and the entire western civilization that we find their seal everywhere, today. The democracy of ancient Greece,[1] the accomplishments of her people,[2] the great ideas of her moral philosophers,[3] scientists and artists,[4] and finally, the dramatic events, which have unfolded in the glorious history of the Greek nation because of its geographical position (connecting three continents, Europe, Asia, and Africa) and its persistence in Christian truth have always been a source of creative inspiration to all nations.[5] Greece has truly improved mankind.

The ancient Hellenic civilization is called the ‘classical’ one; later the word ‘classical’ became the source of standards by which subsequent achievements can be measured.[6] ‘There is a quality of excellence about Ancient Greece that brooks few comparisons.’[7] These peoples (Greeks) shared the same language (in an oral and written literature) and they recognized a common heritage ‘Hellenes’, which they did not share with other men. They belonged, as they felt, to ‘Hellas’. The non-Greeks were ‘barbarians’. The achievement and importance of Greece comprehended all sides of life. ‘The Greeks did more for future civilization than any of their predecessors.’[8]  All Europe drew interest on the ‘capital’ Greece laid down, and through Europe the rest of the world has benefited from what Greeks offered to human civilization. Macedonia for ever Hellas

There is no country called “Macedonia”, but there is the something like north Greece or west Bulgaria or east Albania or south Serbia or all together (Just like the salad).
The word “Macedonia” is definitely Greek, not Bulgarian. The part of Macedonia that Serbs and Bulgarians occupied in 1913 and conducted a genocide against the Real Macedonians (all 3500000 millions -survivors- today we was and we are Greeks), it is this genocide and the existence of a Real Macedonian minority that Serbs and Bulgarians tries to cover up. The “war” against Real Macedonians, our brothers in Cyprus and all Greeks it will not work, the Real Macedonian people and our brothers, are determined to win no matter the cost...!

Σίγουρα, κανείς. Όλοι μας έχουμε κατά νου την λαϊκή σοφία, η οποία συνόψισε ευθύβολα, με αποφθεγματικό τρόπο την νυν περιρρέουσα ατμόσφαιρα: «Κόρακας κοράκου μάτι δεν βγάζει».
Όλοι τους διαρρηγνύουν τα ιμάτιά τους...

Russia says genetically modified foods are harmful

Russia has started the annual Days of Defence against Environmental Hazards from the 15th of April to the 5th of June with the announcement of sensational results of an independent work of research. Scientists have proved that Genetically Modified Organisms are harmful for mammals. The researchers discovered that animals that eat GM foodstuffs lose their ability to reproduce. Campbell hamsters that have a fast reproduction rate were fed for two years with ordinary soya beans, which are widely used in agriculture and those contain different percentages of GM organisms. Another group of hamsters, the control group, was fed with pure soya, which was found with great difficulty in Serbia because 95 percent of soya in the world is transgenic. 
Concerning the experiment carried out jointly by the National Association for Gene Security and the Institute of Ecological and Evolutional Problems, Dr. Alexei Surov has this to say. “We selected several groups of hamsters, kept them in pairs in cells and gave them ordinary food as always,” says Alexei Surov. “We did not add anything for one group but the other was fed with soya that contained no GM components, while the third group with some content of Genetically Modified Organisms and the fourth one with increased amount of GMO. We monitored their behavior and how they gain weight and when they give birth to their cubs. Originally, everything went smoothly. However, we noticed quite a serious effect when we selected new pairs from their cubs and continued to feed them as before. These pairs’ growth rate was slower and reached their sexual maturity slowly. When we got some of their cubs we formed the new pairs of the third generation. We failed to get cubs from these pairs, which were fed with GM foodstuffs. It was proved that these pairs lost their ability to give birth to their cubs,” Dr. Alexei Surov said. 
Another surprise was discovered by scientists in hamsters of the third generation. Hair grew in the mouth of the animals that took part in the experiment. It’s unclear why this happened. The researchers cannot understand why a programme of destruction is launched when animals take GMO foodstuffs. They say that this can be neutralized only by stopping to eat these foods. Consequently, scientists suggest imposing a ban on the use of GM foods until they are tested for their bio-security. The results of Russian scientists coincide with those of their colleagues from France and Austria. For one, when scientist proved that GM maize was harmful for mammals, France banned immediately its production and sale. The scientists who carried out the experiment say that it’s too early to make far-reaching conclusions about the health hazards of the GMO. They insist that there is a need to carry out comprehensive research. They suggest implementing the project, “Safety Gene Technology” at the innovation centre, “Skolkovo” which is being set up near Moscow.

Macedonia or macédoine is a salad composed of small pieces of fruit or of vegetables.
Fruit macedonia or Macedonia de frutas is a fruit salad and is a common dessert in Spain[1], France, Italy and Latin America.
Vegetable macedonia or Macédoine de légumes nowadays is usually a cold salad or hors d'oeuvre of diced vegetables, in France often including red beans. It is sometimes mixed with mayonnaise combined with aspic stock, making it essentially the same as a vegetarian Russian salad. Macédoine de légumes is also a hot vegetable dish consisting of the same vegetables served with butter.[2]
According to the etymologist Juan Antonio Cincunegui, the word Macedonia was popularised at the end of the 18th Century to refer to mixed fruit salad, alluding to the diverse origin of the people of Alexander's Macedonian Empire[3]. It is sometimes said that it refers to the ethnic mixture in Ottoman 19th century Macedonia, but the chronology and contemporary sources do not support this interpretation. Macedoine can be used of any medley of unrelated things, not necessarily edible. [4]
